A Passion for Art

CCA Andratx is one of the largest centres of Contemporary Art in the Balearic Islands as well as in the rest of Europe. Jacob and Patricia Asbaek founded it in 2001. The Asbaek are very well-known in Denmark thanks to its work in the international art world since the 1960s. Their dream was to bring the latest art and most gifted artists to Mallorca -and they achieved it by creating this beautiful 4.000 m2 building that follows the traditional Mallorcan architecture on the outside and is perfectly integrated in the breathtaking natural scenery of its surroundings.

It’s a unique space that combines Art and Nature – rarely you can find a gallery, exhibition spaces, artist-in-residence programs and nature spaces in one place. The exhibitions are always temporary and they are on show in the three different spaces:

  • Kunsthalle: where major exhibitions are held between three and four times a year.
  • Gallery: holds a selection of our favourite artists from around the world.
  • Espai: a space dedicated to emergent artists that are residing in the island; our way to communicate with local art.

CCA also offers an Artist-in-Residence Program. It counts with four Studios of 120 m2 each. Over 800 artists from 20 different countries have already benefited from this program.
